ABSTRACT
The article reports that packaged magazine gift subscriptions, which costs $18 in 30 retail stores, primarily in the New York area, are being tested by Subscriber Systems. The company plans to unveil the program nationwide in 500 to 1000 gift shops, bookstores and department stores in September 1990. Each subscription package includes a compact disc-size box decorated with the magazine's cover with a glossy gift card and a subscription activation form. It was created partially in response to consumer demand for innovative gift items in the under $25 "impulse purchase" category.
