ABSTRACT
The article comments on the chances of the members of the U.S. House of Representatives of being re-elected. According to a Gallup survey conducted for the National Federation of Independent Business, 70 percent of the public wants to limit the total number of years a person can serve. The congressmen opposed the idea by 2-1 margin. Sixty-two percent of the citizens favored a mandatory retirement age for federal elected officials. Ninety percent of House members opposed the idea. The author's opinion is that members of the House should be limited to five terms for a total of 10 years in office and senators to two terms or 12 years.
