Focuses on the challenges faced by Chicanos in Crystal City, Texas. Information that in 26 Texas counties, more than half the population is Chicano, but not a single county government is Chicano-controlled; Efforts of the Chicanos in Zavala County, Texas, to build a model of cultural, political and economic liberation; Protest of Chicano high school students against the policy under which cheerleaders and homecoming queens were almost always Anglo though the student body is overwhelmingly Chicano; Organization of "La Raza Unida," a new Chicano party, by professor Jose Angel Gutierrez; Objectives of the party; Difficulties experienced in persuading businessmen to open plants in the area.
