ABSTRACT
One third of the Berlin inhabitants above the age of 14 actively use Berlin's public libraries. For a representative spot check of the Berlin population, more than 2,000 men and women were questioned about their motives to use the public libraries in Berlin and their satisfaction with what they found. In addition, more than 14,000 active library users were questioned online and in 68 library institutions concerning their motives of use and activities in the libraries and their satisfaction with media availability, events, rooms and the IT infrastructure.
