ABSTRACT
The article informs that Qualcomm Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Inc. T-Mobile US Inc. and Alcatel-Lucent, are enabling the extension of Long-Term Evolution (LTE) to unlicensed spectrum with forthcoming Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) deployment plans. Topics discussed include increase in mobile data demand, trials of LTE-U enabled small cells through Qualcomm Technologies' FSM99xx family of small cell system-on-chip (SoC) solutions and advantages of seamless integration of bands.
