ABSTRACT
The article looks at role of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone-system (RAAS) in managing blood pressure. Topics discussed include the RAAS flow starts with active renin generated and unleashed in the kidneys as a reaction to blood pressure changes, the potential of plasma aldosterone-renin ratio in checking primary aldosteronism in the RAAS and innovations in monitoring RAAS flow like the discovery of angiotensin II receptors and direct signaling through renin.
