Issuers and bankers alike should be looking more closely at disclosure, especially in the areas of derivatives, officials said at the 2003 Disclosure Conference hosted in San Antonio, Texas by the Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) of Texas. The MAC is Texas' information repository and oversees disclosure and compliance issues for the state's issuers. With more issuers considering such tools as derivatives, Hill Feinberg, chairman and chief executive officer of First Southwest Co. and the current chairman of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board, said broker-dealers, bond lawyers, and financial advisers will be responsible for educating them about not only the benefits, but also the risks, of such transactions.
