Mayors Conference Elects New President

The United States Conference of Mayors elected James A. Garner, the mayor of Hempstead, New York, as its new president at its annual meeting in Denver, Colorado on June 10, 2003. Garner said he will use his tenure as head of the organization, which represents 1,183 U.S. cities with populations of 30,000 or more, to promote sustainable development in the U.S. and around the world.
