ABSTRACT
The article cites a survey by conducted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond regarding the servicing sector in May 2003. Retailers' woes continued and services firms were weaker. The service sector revenues index slid to negative 11 in May from negative 6 in April, while the number of employees index fell to negative 13 from negative 11, the average wage index slumped to 7 from 13 and product demand during the next six month index dipped to 10 from 19. On the services side, the revenues index slipped to negative 6 in May from 13 in April, while the number of employees index decreased to negative 12 from negative 8 and the average wage index fell to 13 from 19.
