ABSTRACT
Mergers and acquisitions in middle-market banking have been suffering from depression in 2003. After outperforming the overall merger-and-acquisition market throughout 2002, dollar value of U.S. middle-market mergers has plunged 25 percent so far in 2003 versus the same period during 2002. Only three deals in April were in the 500 million dollar to 1 billion dollar range, down from 12 in April 2002.
