ABSTRACT
The article discusses a proposal from several U.S. federal banking agencies which would require banking firms with at least 50 billion dollars in total consolidated assets to maintain a 100 percent liquidity coverage ratio (LCR). According to the article, the proposed banking rule is intended to be consistent with the LCR standard that the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has established for large, global banks as part of the Basel III accord. High-quality liquid assets are mentioned.
