ABSTRACT
The article discusses the minimal impact of higher prices for new trucks on North American class 8 truck leasing and financing. It notes that a price increase will result in new business models and revenue sources such as fleet management services and telematics solutions from original equipment manufacturers (OEM). Analysis of the market also reveals that financing accounts for 64 percent of new Class 8 truck purchases, while 28 percent of purchases are done through leasing.
