Abstract
ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the abstracts of several papers related to pulmonary rehabilitation and ambulatory oxygen therapy for patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Aerobic exercise is the usual mode of training during pulmonary rehabilitation for COPD. This has little effect on muscle weakness and atrophy. Resistance training over 12 weeks, has been well tolerated, improves functional outcomes and significantly enhanced muscle strength in elderly patients with COPD. This may be a useful addition to aerobic training.
