Abstract
ABSTRACT
This article characterise gamma catenin expression in colon cancer and to examine the effects of COX-2 inhibition on gamma catenin expression. Gamma catenin is a member of the catenin family. It functions in cell adhesion and the WNT signalling pathway. Defects in both WNT signalling and COX-2 expression play important roles in colorectal cancer. Gene expression studies were carried out by quantitative RT-PCR. Western blots were performed using a moriodonal antibody to gamma catenin and immunohistochemistical staining was performed using a polyclonal antibody to gamma catenin.
